Accommodation Details

Off the beaten track and set in a peaceful valley with views of the Puketoi Range and hill country farmland. Otapawa Farmstay is situated on our sheep and beef station and gives visitors a taste of the country lifestyle.

We have two types of accommodation available: a furnished, three bedroom Lockwood house (sleeps up to six) and a 12 bedroom backpacker lodge which is ideal for large groups. Both venues have a fully equipped kitchen, wood-burner fire and freeview television.

View seasonal on farm activites like shearing and mustering. Farm and Bush walks. 4x4 tours. Table tennis at woolshed. Take a stroll around the hosts gardens.

Otapawa also has many attractions for families and it's a great place to take them in the weekend or school holidays. It is also an ideal spot for large groups of friends, family or those who want to have a true New Zealand rural experience, or a social gathering for a special occasion.

  • Really enjoyed dara and her easy and obliging company in taking my son and i around the sights. House is clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the fire and the kawahdahlooodles of the magpies in the morning and the tui song in found in pockets of bush. Thank you for your hospitality.

  • Second time we've stayed at Otapawa. And was just as good as the first time. Very relaxing and good to meet with Donald who is very knowledgeable and happy to share.

  • Very nice surprise to find a full featured Lockwood house at the end of the gravel road. Surrounded by grazing stock, very quiet, a very restful place. We found it a pity that we only stayed the one night. Very comfortable and we highly recommend this place.
