On arrival waste no time in visiting Stanley Park, the jewel in Vancouver’s crown and a vibrant, scenic oasis in summer. Rent a bike and join the throngs of locals cycling the pathways, soaking up some sun and enjoying the ocean views. Grab a beer and a bite at historic Granville Island and wander the bustling markets.

Then jump on a ferry to North Vancouver and make your way up Grouse Mountain for a great Canadian nature experience and some spectacular views. If you’re feeling energetic, skip the gondola and walk the trail to the top.

Once back downtown, enjoy the numerous shopping, restaurant and nightlife opportunities.

Insider tips

While Vancouver has the mildest climate of any large city in Canada, its’ weather is also unpredictable. Pack a raincoat and layers, and you should be fine for all seasons. Best time to visit is July-October when the weather is at its best.

Vancouver prides itself on being bike-friendly. There are many bike tracks across the whole city and buses have racks on the front to help you get to the outer reaches of the city.

Once you’ve explored the city, head out to Bowen Island on a water taxi for a day trip.
