Los Angeles accommodation

General info

The birthplace of pop culture and the home of ’Baywatch’, LA is a mega metropolis bathed in sunshine that sits on the Southern Californian coast.

Things you must see & do

If you are a foodie, a film buff or a shopaholic then LA is your kinda town. Get caught up in the bright lights but make sure that you find some of the hidden gems too - there are many.

Live like a local and spend a day at Zuma Beach with its stunning coastline and unbroken white sand beaches. You can swim with the friendly local dolphins. If you are a foodie then the Santa Monica Farmers Market is a must.

No trip to LA is complete until you have seen some stars. Grab a cocktail at the Ivy, explore one of the many studios like Paramount, channel Jack Nicholson in Chinatown at The Prince underground lounge or walk in the steps of the stars outside the Chinese Theatre.

Insider tips

Renting a car is advisable simply due to the sheer spread of the city. If you decide that the freeways are not your thing, LA does have a great bus system and it is cheap.

It’s best not to walk at night in some parts of the city, especially alone or in very small groups.

If you like the arts and only have time for one thing in LA, make it a visit to the Getty Center. The center specialises in pre-20th century art and is surrounded by 240 hectares of land with amazing views.
